Dear doctor;
Small cell lung cancer. My father knew he got it is about 5 months ago.He has radiotherapy ten times before 22 days. I don’t know where he should to take chemotherapy or not. Many doctor tell me this kind of cancer is high metastatic potential and carcinoma.I hope i can get some advices from you. Thank you very much!
I am writing on behalf of my mother. She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2010 which metastasized in 2012. She has gone through Chemotherapy treatment and it has weakened her. We are not willing to have her undergo anymore Chemo. She is currently in Woodbridge staying with my sister. I am interested in DHA for could you tell me how is the fastest way to get this for her. I could also be reached by phone at
We have treatment options that are gentle and can be used when chemo side effects have weakened the body. Please contact the office to arrange a consultation.
Dear Doctor, I have advance stage 4 very rear Thymoma and have been dealing with it for the last 9 years, I feel good, but from time to time I have swelling of the face & neck & shortage of breath some times. Is there any thing out there that will help or stop it from growing before it gets any worse I need help right now with this. Thank you marg
There are several medicines that we could try such as LDN, DCA or PB (sodium phenylbutyrate). Natural medicines can also be combined. These therapies work for rare cancers like thymoma in our experience.
My wife was just diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She also has a small spot on each lung and suspicious lymph nodes very close to the tumour at the head of the pancreas. She has had a stent placed in her bile duct, as the tumour was pinching it. She is about to consult with a radiologist (tomorrow) and an oncologist (Monday.) We just learned about DCA. We have no insurance other than OHIP. Do you have any advice?
I would consider some simple affordable therapies like LDN, high dose vitamin D, lipoic acid etc. There is research to support the use of these (and other) gentle medicines. For personalized advice, feel free to arrange for a consultation.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 weeks ago. I was advised to have surgery to remove my prostate. The cancer has not spread beyond the prostate by evidence of CT scan and bone scan that were done. I was given a Gleason score of 7 from the biopsy that was done.
I am inclined to go with other alternatives than the 4 options that were given. The 4 being: surgery, radiation, freezing, and hormone therapy. I have started the Budwig Protocol and juicing and a few other things. I am interested in DCA Therapy and LDN, or other programs you may be recommending.
Thanks for you consideration of me,
Reed
DCA or LDN could be combined with diet changes, and natural medicines. Since prostate cancer is generally slow-growing, a course of such gentle therapy may be reasonable to try, and if it works, surgery becomes non-urgent. Therapy has to be monitored by a ND or MD.
My mother got diagnosed with stage iv sclc with mets to the adrenal glands, nodes and bones. She doesn’t live in Toronto but I do and think DCA would be a good option. What time span is the treatment procured over?
DCA may be helpful. We can do a telemedicine consultation if needed. The treatment is available immediately. It takes at least 4-6 weeks to see if it is effective.
Hi Dr. Khan My Brother is 58 years old , and has been given 3 to 6 months to live he has stage 4 advanced cancer . The Cancer had originated in the stomach and spread to his lung, liver and worst of all his spine which has now crumbled. because of this he can no longer walk and he has only limited movements to his left arm, he is eating ok but very lethargic and week. Doctors are not going to give him Chemo therapy , they had completed radiation therapy, in hopes to do surgery on the back , but now surgery is not an option, can you help. thank you
Intravenous DMSO may be a good option, or maybe DCA too. If your brother can come in for consultation, that would be best. If not, please call the office.
My aunt has stomach cancer and the doctors are saying there’s nothing else they can do for her. Is it too late or is there still hope with using your treatment?
Hi Dr Khan, my 53 year old wife was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and am estrogen positive 1.7 cm. lump removed from her breast her lymph nodes were all clear and no chemo was given.
2 months ago my wife was not feeling too well almost like having a stroke and after going to the ER a CT scan was done and we were told that she had multiple tumors in her brain, dozen or more ranging from small to 2 cm. A heavy dose of radiation was administered starting the next day for 10 days, steroids was also given to reduce brain swelling. a few weeks later a CT scan was done and discovered that cancer has spread to her bones. and a the small lump was also found in her lung. Then after a biopsy on a mass on her hips it was confirmed that it was also breast cancer estrogen positive. We started doing a monthly injection of Aridia, daily Calcium, Vitamine C and D. Daily Tamoxifen. Daily Fragmin for a blood clot in her right calf. She is doing comfortable as of right now but we are worried that the tumors are still there and might come back and grow. We were told that it was stage 4 and terminal. So Dr Khan, what can DCA or other therapy do for us. I have a fighter on my hands and she needs something to help her fight for the side of life. Thank you for your response in advance.
Sounds like DCA is an option. DCA does work in the brain too, as I’m sure you are aware. We have 2 or 3 other good options too, in case DCA causes some side effects or is not effective. As an aside, I have serious doubts in the “watch and wait” approach after standard cancer therapy, when patients are given the news of being “all clear”. We never do that. Technology is available to detect and monitor tiny amounts of cancer that remain in patients who are “all clear”. That can be used to keep the cancer under control and prevent this type of recurrence using non-toxic medicines. But it is largely unrecognized in standard oncology programs in Canada. We will write about this soon on the website to help prevent this sort of devastating recurrence from happening to others.
Hi, My mom is 57 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized to her brain(Nov.16th, 2015). She had surgery on her brain on Dec.22 and they say that they got all of the tumor. The cancer in her lung is attached to her heart, spine, esophagus and chest wall. She is doing 5 days of radiation which started today(Dec.29) and they say that, that is all that they can do for her, give her quality of life not quantity. Do u think that she would be a candidate for DCA or anything else that you offer? Thanks for your time. (Does your response get sent to my email as well because after I leave this screen I will not be able to find it again)
DCA happens to be good with radiation, or immediately after radiation in many cases (it can enhance the cancer kill of radiation). Interestingly, the diabetes drug metformin can also enhance radiation, as well as the non-toxic drug phenylbutyrate researched extensively by Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski (in Texas). Also, we normally recommend ongoing therapy after radiation, because if you do nothing, the cancer will just grow uncontrollably. If you need assistance with selecting a suitable therapy, please call the office for an appointment.
What can be done for stage 4 stomach cancer which has spread to the liver and lymph nodes (mets)? My 41 year old husband has been told that he has a year and will be starting chemo soon. Can anything be done? We have been told that there is no cure. What do you think? By the way, are any of your services covered by OHIP?
A lot can be done. We would likely recommend some combination therapies to try to enhance the chemo and reduce side effects / improve immune function.
Most of these come at a cost. This ranges from a few dollars per week up to a few hundred dollars per week depending on the therapy. OHIP covers medical doctor visits, not medications or naturopathic doctor fees.
Dr Khan My dad has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer cholangiocarcinoma a rare cancer. We just found this out within the last week My dad was very jaundice he had two stents put in duct that failed now they put two external bags and drains my dad also had a pet scan today. This is all very new to me I want to do anything to help my dad. He hasn’t started any chemo yet. We are from Connecticut. Can you please guide me in the right direction
Before your dad decides on chemo, he should carefully review the side effects and statistics on success. If he is concerned, then he may consider some gentle therapy like LDN, DCA or intravenous DMSO combined with natural medicines. DMSO even has a published small human trial done specifically in bile duct cancer that supports its use.
A few years ago, my mother, who is currently 64, was diagnosed with a rare uterine cancer. She had a hysterectomy done and was told she was cleared of cancer. Just last year, my mother has been diagnosed with atypical carcinoid lung tumor. The cancer had already spread by the time she was diagnosed. She has had a few radiation treatments which did shrink some tumors. She has also tried several different chemotherapy treatments which did not seem to help for she developed more tumors in the lungs. She is now doing chemotherapy shots but back in November, her face, hands and feet began to swell along with weight gain in the stomach area.
She ended up going to the ER and was diagnosed with diabetes running in the high 300s. She then became very weak and was hospitalized twice because of very low potassium levels. While in the hospital they ran some tests and they said she has symptoms of cushings disease. Doctors have been trying to do a pet scan but have had to cancel them 3-4 times due to high blood sugar. She is taking two different insulins along with pills but the lowest she has been is 211. She is still very swollen, tired and has accidents throughout the night with voiding. We are at a stand still, not knowing how much farther the cancer has progressed and trying to find any kind of advice and help. They say her cancer is very rare so there is not much information about how to treat it. Thank you for your time in reading this and any help will be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like perhaps the doctors are thinking the cancer is producing hormones that are driving up the blood glucose. This is dangerous because the cancer cell’s main energy source is glucose.
Therefore, uncontrolled blood glucose can contribute to cancer growth. In cases like this, it is imperative to control the cancer ASAP, which then will hopefully bring down the glucose too. Diet is also very important. If multiple chemos have already failed, then it is worth considering a metabolic therapy like DCA combined with a Ketogenic Diet or other anti-cancer diet.
Dear Doctor, my wife is 51 suffering stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. She has had minimal conventional treatment and it’s 26mths since first diagnosed. We are exploring DCA treatment, as it appeared as a recommedation on an RGCC test (molecular test). She is experiencing weight loss and has regular bloating. Recently started oral chemotherapy 5-FU.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
DCA can be used to treat pancreatic cancer. In our experience, this is a difficult cancer in general. So I recommend looking at SEF Chemo in USA, which is a chemo-immunotherapy that is quite gentle but highly effective for pancreatic cancer. Also look at IPT chemo which is a low dose chemo combined with insulin as a chemo booster. Both are very effective for the most difficult cancers.
