Case Report – Colon Cancer Long-Term Survival with DCA Therapy

  • 57 year old female diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer (multiple liver metastases)
  • partially obstructing tumour, had surgery, unable to remove main tumour so bypassed with loop ileostomy
  • chemo (FOLFIRI + Avastin) reduced CEA from 260 to 3.5
  • combined IV DCA + metformin with chemo initially, then chemo stopped due to increasing side effects
  • continued DCA but switched from IV to oral
  • stable disease (by CT scans and CEA measurement) for over 4 years
  • case report published in World Journal of Clinical Cases
  • patient read about anti-cancer properties of boswellia extract, began to combine with DCA
  • CT scan done after a few months showed complete disappearance of all liver tumours, confirmed by MRI
  • patient had surgery to remove original mass and reverse the ileostomy, surgeon found only scar tissue and 1 node with microscopic cancer
  • patient continued low dose DCA for maintenance
  • remains in complete remission, now over 10 years from start of treatment with Dr. Khan
